Leadership Capability Series -
Productive Dialogue
Productive Dialogue is a type of conversation that stands
apart from “discussion.” In discussion, different
views and positions are presented and defended. In dialogue,
different views are presented as a means of discovering and
co-creating a new and more comprehensive understanding. Productive
Dialogue requires a conscious choice to create an open and
meaningful exchange of ideas and feelings in a climate of
trust and respect. Its purpose is to expand understanding
and create shared meaning.
This module addresses the importance of establishing pathways
within an organization or team that encourage productive dialogue
and communication.
