Retention and Reengagement after Restructuring
$6-billion insurance company
OVERVIEW
Contemplating the consolidation of many operations centers
into just a few locations, a major insurance company was concerned
about the risks of low retention and engagement during the
eight-month process.
CHALLENGE
Potentially high attrition during the transition threatened
the company's core back-office operations. A number of people
were being moved to new roles and the Director of Leadership
Development needed a unifying approach for re-engaging and
focusing people on their work performance.
ACTIONS
5 Dynamics was chosen as a unifying framework because of its
focus on work performance and not personality. Coaches used
the dyad report in working with individuals to identify optimal
roles in the new organization. Teams used the team tools to
foster clearer understanding how to focus their energy on
performance results. Managers used the individual reports
to understand their employees, identify their strengths and
coach them through the change process.
RESULTS
The strengths-based focus provided a refreshing view for employees
to re-think where their talents could be best used in the
new organization. The Director of Learning and Leadership
Development reports, “It was easy to use at all levels
and has had a major positive impact on engagement and retention."
