OVERVIEW
Electric utility company producing and delivering 80% of the electricity for its
state was facing the prospect of its industry becoming deregulated.
CHALLENGE
This traditional regulated utility company needed to instill
a sense of urgency into its leadership and workforce to address
the likely introduction of new competitors, higher costs,
and demands for customer innovations.
ACTIONS
CWG designed and delivered a scenario planning process with
the senior vice presidents of the production and distribution
divisions. These two initiatives were aimed at understanding
future risks and opportunities and making the necessary shifts
in organizational strategy, structure, and leadership to thrive
in this future state.
RESULTS
The planning process raised the collective sense of urgency and identified a list
of key actions necessary to succeed in the future. This generated a series of
strategic and developmental initiatives that successfully prepared the company
for fundamental market changes.
