High profile newspaper
OVERVIEW
After a turbulent acquisition a high profile newspaper publisher set out to build
a culture of high performance and innovation.
CHALLENGE
In the midst of a severe economic downturn in a tourist dominated
market, the newspaper needed to seek out innovative approaches
for revenue generation. The assets only acquisition had left
a talent and leadership vacuum, requiring the building of
a leadership capability that could establish a culture of
accountability and focus on innovative sources of revenue.
ACTIONS
Cultural assessment determined the need for re-engaging the whole organization
in developing a new strategic plan and vision. Leadership development and acquisition
of new talent led to the need for team development and alignment. Building capability
to manage performance and lead through organizational change across departmental
boundaries.
RESULTS
A solid leadership team is in place. The processes and systems to focus on a results
focused culture are emerging. The capability to work across departments in cross-department
teams has been strengthened. The organization has identified new markets and sources
of revenue that had previously been under exploited.
